And then there was one! This is kinda shocking, even in the NIL/portal era.

Wasn’t it rumored that Kohl was on his way out, too?

Crazy. Maybe Storr and Griffen can come back!

Why does anyone want to follow this garbage? I know I'm beating a dead horse, but man, the second Bill Self retires, I'm out for good. I have ZERO interest in semi-pro sports. Especially with participants who don't give a crap about where they play, just the paycheck. I can't wait to hear about all these illiterate morons who blew the money they made, crying about how nobody taught them how to manage their money. They all laugh at the value of a FREE education that is so overpriced for the average American. Good riddance!

Yea, not easy. maybe a chicken or the egg situation. which came first? It does grow less interesting and more guns for hire each year.

      THE KU 2026-27 ROSTER

I'll update this as players come and go. Awaiting some portal action!

      INCOMING FRESHMEN

      Taylen Kinney — PG — 5 star — 6-1 / 185

Scoring and playmaking guard. Not a great threat from deep so far.

      Davion Adkins — F — 4 star — 6-9 / 205

Athletic lefty with 7-2 wing span. Runs well, bouncy, lob threat, shot blocker. Effort not always there. Seems like he needs some maturity to his game before he puts it all together.

      Trent Perry — WING — 4 star — 6-5 / 190

High motor, but most say he’ll be a quality bench/role player. Tough, undersized for a wing, but plays bigger.

      Luke Barnett — SG — 4 star — 6-4 / 180

Shooter. Shooter. Shooter. Decent in transition. Good size, good motor, but not a great defender. Did I say shooter?

      POTENTIAL RETURNEES

From most likely to return, to least likely.

      Kohl Rosario — G — 6-6 / 200 — sophomore

      KU PLAYERS IN THE PORTAL

      Flory Bidunga — C — 6-10 / 235 — junior / entered NBA draft

      Paul Mbyia — C — 7-0 / 245 — sophomore

      Bryson Tiller — F — 6-11 / 240 — sophomore

      Elmarko Jackson — G — 6-3 / 195 — junior

      Jamari McDowell — G — 6-5 / 200 — junior

      Samis Calderon — F — 6-8 / 200 — sophomore

      WALK ON TYPES

      Wilder Evers — G — 6-4 / 195 — senior

      Corbin Allen — G — 6-5 / 175 — sophomore

      Will Thengvall — G — 6-4 / 190 — junior

      POTENTIAL INCOMING FRESHMEN

      Tyran Stokes — SF — 5 star / 6-7 / 230

Premier recruit. Sized like a forward, with guard skills. Can create off dribble. Finds the rim. Not a great shooter. Has the tools to be a great defender, playmaker.

KEEP AN EYE ON THESE PORTAL PLAYERS

      JP Estrella — Tennessee — F — 6-11 / 240 — junior — 10 pts, 5 rebounds

      Somto Cyril — Georgia — C — 6-11 / 280 — junior — 9 points, 5 rebounds, 2.2 blocks

      Zoom Diallo — Washington — G — 6-4 / 180 — junior — 15.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 31.5% 3 pt

      Isaiah Johnson — Colorado — G — 6-1 / 170 — sophomore — 16.9 points, 2.9 rebounds, 3 assists, 37.8% 3pts

      Kameron Taylor — UNC Asheville — G — 6-7 / 185 — junior — 18.9 pts, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 28.1% 3 pts

Yea, much of it already shot down in previous court battles.

But the “stick” is the threat to pull federal funding from schools.

But it does sound like an attempt to get NCAA leaders to rethink their sh*t.

Not trying to bring politics to the thread, but El Jefe has issued an executive order to regulate college sports.

It includes a one time transfer rule. A second attempt requires the player to sit out a year.

I’m gonna guess most college sports fans really dislike the yearly free agency and wouldn’t mind seeing the executive order stick.

(I can make this a separate thread if anybody cares to weigh in)

Looks like Rashee Rice was cleared of any wrong doing in that case with his girlfriend (or ex, i dunno).

I think that means he's good to go for 2026?

Contract year, so hopefully he puts on a good show next season.

      Tough call on Flory.

Strengths: a big who can hedge on the perimeter like Self wants! Those don’t grow on trees. He can stick with smaller players with his quick feet. Shot blocker. His around-the-basket scoring is greatly improved. Bouncy. Mobile.

      Weaknesses: Big bigs!

So he’s an asset some games, and a weakness others.

I guess I’d prefer an inside player to be a strength vs other inside players. He’s not that, mostly.

Not that I (or we) have a clue about how NIL money is tossed around, but I’d say he’s not worth the lion’s share if it limits spending on filling out the roster with other quality players.

Spend it elsewhere, on some shooting and depth.

Was curious about his NBA comps...

In terms of NBA comparison for Bidunga, two clear names that he shares similarities with are Clint Capela and Adem Bona. All three of them possess extremely similar skill sets and physical gifts. In particular, each of them is undersized for their position, but possesses great athleticism and physical tools. Offensively, they all are elite rim-runners and lob threats who thrive in transition, but can’t do much else. On defense, they utilize their athleticism and length to be great rim protectors and rebounders.

      Onward and upward!

In this new NIL era, it's really hard to see any continuity in any team. I hope they can keep who they want, and bring in good fits.

I'll say this as i do every freaking year...FIND SOME F*CKING SHOOTERS YOU SONSABITCHES!!!!!!!!

Sadly i seem to be right every year. 😞

Just remembered there’s something in the air at Rainier Beach High School, home of both former whackadoodle Jayhawk Anrio Adams, and now KU recruit Stokes, who apparently has an issue or two.

And Poor Rodrick Stewart, who seemed like a good human, exploded his kneecap warming up at the Final Four.

Looking like Kohl Rosario will enter soon after removing KU from his socials. No surprise given his camp being very unhappy with how his situation turned out

Yea that sucks if true and he's serious. I like Kohl and his effort and bouncy-ness. He probably needed to play more minutes this year, but we really need him to make some shots, and he didn't. So, that's kind of on him. A bit of self reflection couldn't hurt.

But i'm 100 percent sure he'd make great progress as a player each year. I was looking forward to seeing him next year and beyond.

I watched the first half but have had a hard time getting my spirit into USMNT this window, and thusly haven't gone back and watched the second. It's not that I don't like the boys or Poch, just have a lot going on, and a little burnt out on (or maybe bored of) youth soccer in the United States, which cascades up, because the shit flows uphill. I'll get there, but haven't yet.

Also, I wear a USMNT hat every day, so only you guys know my secret.

Go USMNT hat! ha. nice. I need one of those.

If you have the option, i'd watch the highlights. The goals were very very nice.

    • RE: World Cup

The good ole US of A played the first of two scheduled friendlies today.

Absolutely smoked by No. 9 in the world Belgium — at least the scoreline says so. 5-2.

      USA is currently No. 16.

It started out as a good match.the US put the pressure on early. had some quality moments, and the early lead.

Then a slew of horrendous individual defensive moments turned the game quickly.

Tim Weah was playing right defensive back. He was brutally embarrassed multiple times by Man City’s Doku. He’s so shifty and fast. I thought Weah was fast!

Looks like Poch is seriously considering Weah as a right back option. Seems a bit late in the game to toy with his position. It did not go well for Weah. I like him though.

McKennie had a nice goal. I still dislike his stupid, unnecessary yellow cards. Especially early in the game. Wish he’d get past that.

      Jedi played today! Yay.

    • RE: Chiefs offseason thread

I've been reading about the NFL draft lately. Lots of experts are suggesting edge rusher Rueben Bain Jr. could fall to the Chiefs at No. 9.
The debate apparently is over his arm length. See the table below for historical success as a pass rusher with sub-31 inch arm length.

Bain is at 30 7/8, with 33 apparently optimal.

I think the Chiefs need more of a sure thing at No. 9. Who it is, i dunno!

Pass rush success over last three NFL Seasons by edge defender arm length

**Arm Length	Pressure Rate	PFF Pash-Rush Grade**
      < 31 inches	11.7% 69.8
      31-32 inches	14.9% 92.5
      32-33 inches	14.1% 90.2
      33-34 inches	14.5% 90.5
      34-35 inches	13.8% 85.7
      35+ inches	12.2% 85.0
