Flory and Council win Big-12 honors

Flory has won Big-12 Defensive Player of the Year
Council has won Newcomer of the Year
CONGRATS to these two awesome players!
Jaden Bradley is POY. a bit surprised by that one.
Lloyd won COY. Awaka won 6th Man of the Year. Dybansta won Freshman of the Year.
-
Bradley has no business winning POY. He’s not even a top 2 player on his team imo.
-
Bradley definitely a surprising POY. Dybansta, Christian Anderson, JT Toppin in that order this year should've been ahead of Bradley.
-
@BeddieKU23 ya Bradley being POY is insane imo dudes the 3rd best player on his team. I would’ve gave it to Toppin or AJ. I know Toppin missed the last 4 but he was great.
-
Self always said POY should be the top player on the team that won the conference. That's not necessarily the best player in the conference. Of course, that was when we were winning every year...
-
Melvin stats 13.9 PPG, 4.9 Reb, 5.2 Assists, 1.8 TO. The guy is a statsheet stuffer. Jaden Bradley. 13.4 , 3.5 RPG, 4.6APG. Am I arguing Melvin should have been POY? No, but how can the POY have worse stats than a guy who wasn't even considered by anyone to be the POY?
I really don't even care who the POY is. It's a nice honor to be proud of as a fan I guess but winning games really ranks way higher on my list than POY.
-
@tundrahok don’t see how it’s Bradley either way, I think self said that because we had several years of winning the conference and got snubbed for several post season awards.
-
Never seen it given to someone that I think a majority can say wasnt even the best player on their own team
-
Surprised Dybansta didnt win it. A freshman playing in the hardest conference leading the entire country in scoring. Man those coaches that voted were on something
-
They like to give it to the best player on the best team instead of to the best individual player. Maybe if the best player statistically could win it if he is on a team that finished second or third in the league, but it is very difficult to win conference POY with the mid team performance BYU had.
