We need to change his initials from DP to DNP

If we win I will be psyched. If we lose without DP I will blame not having DP. If we lose with DP I will blame the short-term chemistry issues of working him back into the lineup. Either we win or I have an excuse!

Here are the takeaways.

Positives:

1. It was nice to be on the other side of an epic meltdown after the Houston and Baylor "games" last year.

2. DP played 32 minutes.

3. DP was clutch at the end of regulation.

4. We showed that, when we play with heart, we can be a very good team (though I guess we already knew that).

Negatives:

1. This result was more of a TCU choke than a KU victory, though there were elements of both

2. We played with absolutely no effort for an unacceptably long time

3. DP is still cramping

Once again, Melvin saved our bacon. God he is good.

I am very proud of the guys. They had had so many "moral victories" where they played good teams close without DP but came up just short this year. And today they had had enough of that! They made damn sure to get the job done! What a special group

At this point I think it is best to just assume he is done for the year. That way we are prepared for it and if he does come back it will be a pleasant surprise.

Jamari is playing such good defense. He has been a very pleasant surprise.

Dybansta is really good at drawing fouls. Like Tre White in a Duke jersey good. We have to defend him well without getting handsey to have a chance

I do think there are some good things governments have done (infrastructure, safety regulations, standards for work safety, law enforcement) which is why I don't think it is always true. But when governments overstep their bounds it is almost invariably a disaster.

Most likely have to get through Iowa State then Arizona just to reach the big 12 title game.

Reagan once said that there is nothing scarier than someone from the government saying "I'm here to help." I don't think that is always true, but I think its true here.

Just as we all knew, the Cincinnati game destroyed the team and ended the season.

I am not thrilled. DP needs to heat back up at some point.

This season has hammered home the point that cohesion and chemistry are huge factors to success, and that a team is rarely, if ever, just a factor of the sum of talent it puts on the court. When Darryn is out, we are a much less talented team. But because we have played so much with him out we have developed cohesion without him. We have the ball, understand our roles, and play sound defense. With Darryn in, the talent level jumps but the offense looks lost, the ball sticks, and whoever has the ball tends to try and score 1v1. The defense also appears to be more hesitant on switches and less confident about positioning.

I would argue that this year rebounding has been a bigger problem than scoring. If our offense is ranked in the 50s, our rebounding must be in the 300s. However, I agree that our offense needs to take a big step up.

If Iowa State were to lose at Arizona and win the rest of their games and we were to win out, both teams would finish with the same record in conference play. Which team would have the higher seed in the conference tournament?

We allowed ourselves to get rattled by that lucky 3 and refused to fight on the boards. Good run to get back in yhe game by us earlier but not enough
