During the 22-2 run if we would have shot 100% 11/11 (if they were all two point attempts) we would have only broken even. They shut us down and we did not return the favor. Tiller was already on the bench and Flory picked his third right at the beginning of the blitz and they abused Mbiya.

It's getting to be a wake up call when you start thinking they are a better team than we are, TCU and WV have that big guy who can push us around and stuff us plus wings who can shoot and guards who can go inside. We can only go to Flory and Tiller with a lob and barely at that. When DP misses that many shots and the defense can sag because we can't hit above a 30% rate it's a long day. Also the coaching in the Big 12 is on to us. I don't know if we can fix our shooting and if we can't then Flory and Tiller will be crowded a lot. This is like three years in a row. Our few recent shooters were only spot up guys and couldn't hoop like Tre and Melvin. Ugh.

Three less treys and one less two and that's the difference.

30 of 40 free throws and a ton of them were late in the game. When you have two like Darryn and Melvin you can get those drives. How many and ones were there. I know Melvin had of them. Two really clutch ones were the DP triplets and Mari's two in OT. They could have fouled Melvin again but let him pass to Mari. We have seen a lot of clutch FT's from this team.

First I would like to say there was a tie in my verbal reactions they were Shut Up Fran and Shut the Eff up Fran. I wonder if Melvin and Tre showed this much passion and joy elsewhere?

I'm giving TCU credit for hitting three big threes near the end to stay in touch and we found out what staying in touch can mean. Ice cold Darryn, Ice cold Melvin and Ice cold Jamari.

The pros run a version of the defense you just can't play man up all the time as they always find a way to get mismatches. You can't get around DP. He's so quick and long.

The switching defense was really exposed with Hunter who couldn't get back to the paint even on pick and roll. We've seen so many mismatches where our guard and a big were the only players in the whole lane. TCU ran a switch screen four straight times last year and got four layups. It gets bad when the players hesitate just a split second on who has who and not again. Another thing is our peremiter offense which runs well on ball movement two or three passes without dribbling. Now teams blitz clear out to the line and the ball gets stuck.

Tough game and a close game that goes down to the wire. Can we really guard or has UCF exposed us as a paper Jayhawk. Maybe it's a will we guard the whole game. Everyone plays good on O and we win by 6 or 7 points. Isn't it time we see this team show a sustainable improvement and have our bench hit some shots. Two fouls on any of our starters exposes our unreliable bench. I think we are a five deep team. Kohl adds a risk factor that makes your collision insurance go up but we at least know when he is in the game. Jamari is a sub for Tiller or Flory and nuff said. Elmarko is inexplicably inexplicable. Tiller has Tre doing what he should be doing. So I guess it's alright isn't it.t it?

Bill said Darryn feels good and that no one knows yet what the formula is to get the most out of his minutes. He is not there yet where he can play extended minutes but feels good and his legs only let him go so far currently. He said nobody has worked out the formula yet and all the monday morning qb's have their ideas. He said of course they have talked about taking away from the 1st half minutes to get him more in the second half but was noncommittal about that. And he didn't mention a minute restriction limit. Looks like he'll play tomorrow.

Usually on Bill's scheme we can move the ball around the perimeter two or three passes (hopefully sharp) but yesterday it was one pass every time and a dribbler looking to pass inside where there was Tree Bol and no one open. Then it was call someone up from the perimeter and pass resulting in a forced shot, UCF was well coached and got after us and we didn't match that. Our number one thing to avoid is foul trouble but Flory and Melvin had to sit. It was not unnatural for Darryn to turn the ball over while being the primary ball handler in his first time out. We are a defensive team and held them to 30% from three but 52% on two pointers because our guards were laying off I thought. Darryn is not to blame and neither is Melvin. They carried us. Tiller was just taking up space and maybe had been sick it looked like. Why can't a 6'11" guy dunk on put backs. Tre was 4 out of 13 and 1 out of 5 but played hard. But those are not good stats, duh. Flory was not his high motor self and didn't get back on defense and he and Bryson were conserving their energy. Melvin and Tre got back but it was lonely there. We are a low possession offense paced team and look to lob or pass it down low per coaches instructions. We are a 75 point offense and pretty much got that. 29 points outside of DP and MC on 13 for 35 on two pointers and 2 for 11 on threes. That is woeful. Losing by just six points on the road is not the end of the world, We just squandered DP's and MC's effort. We are still awaiting updates on DP. We are worn down and he is too. What is being said in the family circle we don't know again. So many thoughts on all that does not mean squat. It is evident that Darryn can mostly take himself out and Self said again I over did it holmes (i'm so hip I scare myself) thanks to EMPD, I really like this team and if this team was my spouse it could say I have a headache or old school I have to wash my hair and I'm okay. We have TCU on Tuesday and they are in the top half of the conference 1-0. I guarantee a win by say 69-65. Ugly but the UCF dancers were not ugly at all.

For the first time this season part of the team didn't seem engaged kinda jogging slowly up and down not alert. Not like them at all, who knows but it was obvious or so it seemed. UCF was engaged and it was a home game. TCU another hot team riding six game winning streak coming to Allen on the 6th. Peterson was amazing.

Subtract Darryn and Melvin and you are left with 29 two guys do not make us good offensively,

18-5 bench isn't great.
