By the time Fran left, the traffic would have mostly cleared.

Agree.. Fran and Schombie had a lengthy interview with Scott Van Pelt about 30-40 min after the game ended. By the time they wrapped up and got their stuff, it would have been at least an hour post-game. I would imagine the lots and garages would have been mostly empty by then.

      Rock Chalk!

For people going to the games I parked in lot 93, it’s not as close as 90 which is right across the street but just about 2 blocks, the traffic is as better and easier to get to 19th or 18th. It’s was also less than half of lot 90 price wise.

Ok I just listened to it. A LOT of detail in the story. I was extremely skeptical his reading about it but after hearing the guy’s story… I don’t know…

@drgnslayr I've always liked Vitale, because of his knowledge and passion for the game. He's not ashamed to just put it all out there. Also, I've always liked how much priority he places on free throws. This is a true story, but time has faded my memory somewhat, At one KU game I attended DV was on the court pregame and made something like 26 free throws in a row. WHILE WEARING A SUIT JACKET! I'm pretty sure he was in his 70's. I was blown away 😳

America! Where you have the right to be wrong.

@nuleafjhawk i do love this story. and i appreciate DV the man. I just dont appreciate DV the ESPN personality which is a frankenstein of 1 part person, 1 part fabrication of DVs design and 1 part fabrication of ESPNs design, same as all of these guys. It just happens that i was never fond of the 1 part fabrication that DV designed, meaning I 66% dont like him on ESPN.

I dislike all 3 parts of Fran and SA Smith.

I dont know that I like the part ESPN has designed for anyone. Maybe Kornheiser and Wilbon, because they largely seem uninvolved and let the other 2 parts be the entire product

@approxinfinity I agree re Kornheiser and Wilbon. I think they were originally and for much of their careers newspaper men. A completely different breed from the online personality.

Details make lies seem credible. Knowing this helped a lot when I was judging commodity fraud cases and asked lots of questions to evaluate witness credibility. The liars practiced their stories but they usually only had surface details, no depth to follow-ups. ( I had lots of fun because any lawyer will tell you cross-examination is the best part of being in a trial! Often the witnesses and their lawyers--if any--got all flustered because they had never heard of judges doing the questioning to both sides. Sometimes back and forth. Our rules expressly allowed it.) (BTW, it isn't an apreciated strategy in family discussions...as most lawyers usually find out the hard way. 🤕)

Yeah listened to it as well and it is more believable than I was thinking just reading the post. The details don't necessarily give it too much credibility for me, but learned it was directly from someone one of the hosts knew and not some random fan. But am still far from sold that it happened, especially if they had other media duties after the game ended.

@benshawks08 See what I'm saying ?-- - Sounds to me like it's real- --to detailed , and others backing the story.

i wouldn't put it past Fran , the guy is a jerk and has no problem taking his jabs on KU he is one of those types will say one thing to your face and then when your back is turned - - --

If more detail means a story is more likely to be true then I suppose James Joyce's Ulysses is the truest tale ever told!

Yeah the fact that it was a literal friend of the pod and the manner in which it was told and questioned by the hosts felt real. Obviously I don’t know and probably never will. And fran could easily play it off as tongue in cheek. But wow.
