And I’ll also add that it was a generational opportunity. ARPA, state, and city incentives all became available to make the project happen and redevelop the area to actually improve the university as a whole. Without those funding mechanisms the project doesn’t happen

@kjayhawks2.0 the stadium had to be done, it was literally falling apart in some areas. Better to do it on our timeline before God forbid someone got hurt

That prob true it was over a 100 years old, just makes me sick how pathetic our football program has been.

@stoptheflop KU is better than that. I think KU has upgraded at most positions. I'm nowhere near as down on Ballard as others. The two games he played as a freshman weren't terrible and he gave KU a chance to win each of those games. I know Marshall was named starter so we'll see how he and Edwards work running the RPO.

The big thing for me this season is can the defense stop giving up TD's at the end of the first half. Looking at the schedule, I think KU has 7 winnable games so hopefully KU can get 6 of them.

JD has been named QB2 and had made the roster down in Tampa. Very happy for him and hope he can hang around. I tell people all the time being a back up at the NFL level has to be a great gig if you can stay there. Think about guys Henne for the chiefs.

With stadium seating limited to 32,000, I sure hope Friday's game is a sell out.

@kjayhawks2.0 To win a national championship you have to have a roster of 50%+ 4 and 5-Star recruits. Cignetti had very few. He IS undoubtedly the best coach in college football today.

@kjayhawks2.0 Fancy stadiums don't win championships. I attended a game in Lincoln in the 1990's. What a dump!

Welp, its gameday. Not only is this the start of the football season, but its the start of KU sports season as most fans see it (starting with college football kicking off and usually ending when KU loses or wins a title in March Madness, sometimes extending to the end of baseball season). Time for the highs and lows to begin!

I hope it’s full but being a holiday weekend and 98 degrees weather will see

Not getting go vibes getting dominated at the line of scrimmage on offense by mid pack FCS team 😳

From what I've seen so far - not impressed

@nuleafjhawk defense has been okay but we simply can’t not run up the middle against these guys. Opened up a bit on the outside but our center and guards are getting beat nearly every play.

Harris is going to be a problem for a lot of opposing offenses.

Overall I’m pleased with the way the game went, definitely worried about getting destroyed by Mizzou in a week. I thought Marshall settled in pretty good but we know he will have growing pains no question. I think the defense rallied to the ball well and as mentioned above Harris is gonna be a guy other teams will have to account for. I am concerned about the lack of speed on the defensive side and how our guards and center go beat pretty consistently. Marshall maybe running for his life much of the rest of the season.
