I thought maybe a kid who had been developing for three years would stay. smh

I feel like we know who Jamari is at this point and this is okay. He probably wants more PT and I don’t think we have more to offer him than he got a year ago. Also likely helps with Rosario situation.

Food for thought: Michigan's starting 5 were all transfers last year!

I smell a run! (better buy more toilet paper)

KU is currently down to 3 returning players with Kohl, Calderon, and Corbin Allen who redshirted last season.

At this point, other than resolving the Stokes situation, it looks like a bruising big man should be the top priority in the portal. The Big 12 has become the old Big East in regards to physical play and KU doesn't Calderon and Adkins are not that style of big man.

Is it possible we could bring back Doke just like Baylor brought in a pro?

I have a good feeling about next years roster. Bill Self is about to put together a roster of talented, coachable players who will gel as a group. Just wait and see

Love for that to be true, but what is that good feeling based on? Hasn't been the case for the past 3-4 years. It is trending as if we will spending a big chunk on Stokes (perhaps with coachability issues?). Are top portal transfers willing to take less, maybe much less, and play second fiddle to a freshman. Didn't work this year, and is Stokes better than Peterson?

Maybe we don't go that route, but we would need a full roster of P5 level starters - not mid-tier non P5 guys as in the past couple of years.

Don't know how Michigan was able to do it - maybe they just have a much bigger NIL budget - but supposedly Lendeborg took a lot less than UK offered to play for May. Why is that?

What I wonder... it's that most of our team didn't hesitate at all to move into the portal. I'm not for certain, but do the rest of the upper D1 teams lose this many?

Kentucky and UNC have lost comparable amount to the portal for example.

It's not uncommon at this point for teams, even top teams, to lose most of their roster every season now. KU keeping a big chunk of its roster last offseason was more of an anomaly than this offseason is.

@drgnslayr Well, you don't know how long they have thought about it, and coaches may also have advised a few to do it. But one thing to consider...why would anyone hesitate if thinking about the portal? Only a few super-elites could be successful in keeping potential suitors in suspense. The vast majority would benefit by seeing many offers early.

If I remember right Miami in 2023 I believe made the FF and lost the whole roster in the portal.

KU has a zoom call with Wes Enis, USF guard. #55 in the transfer rankings

He went to High School in a neighboring district to me. He left High School early and went to a D2 school before transferring to USF. His dad is Curtis Enis the Penn State and Chicago Bears football player.

He improved his shooting since high school but tends to be an all-or-nothing chucker(0-11 from 3 in ncaa tournament game vs Louisville). Doesn't create for others.

Shooting and defensive metrics say he can play as a rotational guard at high majors, maybe bigger role depending on team role and play style. Had high usage this past season which would be the concern moving up and likely not starting here. We could do far worse with a guy who has good production on offense and low turnover %
