Other Games 2025-2026

I believe in recent tournament history... probably since Hurley... UCONN's tournament cover record is 16-1 (some argue 17-3). I thank UCONN often for my Fanduel balance!
-
yes... UCONN wins. It relates to their entire AD at UCONN. The women win a lot, too. Then add Hurley into it all. Watch the 60 Minutes clip on Hurley. The guy eats basketball 3 squares a day! There is no way to compare him to any other coach in America.
-
@BigBad yes!

Come on, Illini! https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1DyZff7chW/

The question becomes can the Big 10 that’s always hyped finish the deal for the first time since 2000?

Oh crap! Duke lost! lol
That last second shot reminded me of when Laettner took down Kentucky in 1992. I watched that live, too. Karma!
I think it sucks that UA and Mich play first. That seems like it would be the championship game... but never count out UCONN! They are the only team remaining that knows what it's like to go the distance!
I used to be for any B12 team this late in the race... but UA has a lot of really shitty fans bashing KU. It was enough to make me pull for Michigan. This should be one helluva game!
Also... I'm pulling for UI, especially Brad Underwood! Kansas native from McPherson! He's a KSU grad. And KSU tried to hire him after Weber, but he was smart enough to stick it out at Illinois! Good man!
My family used to go to church with Brad and his family, they are good people but he’ll never go back to KSU as far as I know. After the way him and Frank Martin were railroaded outta town, his dad came to the car dealership I used to work at for an oil change. He had the lube tech remove the KSU tag on the front and a couple of KSU badges. He had a stern “FU** that university” when asked about it. Now this was many years ago but as far as I’ve been told no one in that family supports KSU anymore and has nothing good to say about them.
-
@kjayhawks2.0 ah thats just Brads way of saying he doesnt give a shit about KSU, he’ll be back
just kidding. -
In this years tourney Duke blew a 19 point lead, UNC blew a 19 lead and also lost.
I was thinking about those two teams. Since I came to KU, we played Duke in 86 semis, (ref induced loss), beat Duke in 88 semis, beat UNC and lost to Duke in 91 finals, lost to UNC in 93 semis, played neither in 02, 03 tourney FF, beat UNC in epic beatdown in 08 FF semis, played neither in 12 or 18 but did beat Duke to get to FF in 18, and of course beat UNC epically in 22 champ game! That's 3 FF games against Duke and UNC 4 times. Interestingly we've not played other frequent FF team Kentucky in the FF except once in 12.
-
KU Women lost earlier to BYU in WBIT semifinals.
It was a pathetic coaching job.
I do not like to hold grudges, but I have come to a conclusion that our coach is just not good enough.
We need a new coach.

As much as I hate Dan Hurley he will be playing for his 3rd national title in 4 years Monday and I wouldn’t bet against him. He’s easy to dislike but man you can’t question his greatness in the NIL.
-
U-Conn vs Michigan (?)
I'm going to puke 🤮🤮🤮
-
I went to Michigan for law school but never really cared. Didn't go to even 1 basketball game. I thought it was very interesting to have both my alma maters win titles in successive years (88, 89) but UM winning wasn't exciting like Danny & The Miracles was... Spoiled by AFH, I guess!
-
Can Michigan bring the natty back to big 10 country for the first time in 26 years?
-
@kjayhawks2.0 I sure hope so cuz U-Crap is right up there with Kensucky and Puke for me.

He is punch-in-the-face dislikable, but agree that he has mastered the NIL era. Article about UConn/Hurley in the weekend WSJ. Notes that in recruiting they are laser focused on two traits - fitting into specific roles and character (principally willingness to buy in and put up with his s**t).
What I struggle to understand in comparing KU over the past 4 years to UConn/Hurley, FL/Golden, and May is their consistent ability to land real P5 talent starters in the portal every year and to get veteran players to run it back - not all jump to the NBA/G-league/overseas or transfer.
Karaban has stayed at UConn 4 years. FL got Condon and Hauch to come back. May was able to get 3 bigs, each arguably better than Flory and certainly better than Tiller (not to mention Mbiya), to come to MI and actually play them together.

Appears Arizona got served a big, heaping portion of comeuppance on the big stage after Lloyd's contract signing.
Happy Easter Bucketeers!

-
@mayjay I was amazed at that UM run with GLen Rice. Interestingly Illinois was in that final 4 also.
-
@DCHawker You have to question our ability to evaluate talent. Pre-NIL, it wasn't THAT important because Bill's success was developing players over the course of up to five seasons. Now, player success or failure (and therefore team success or failure) is immediate.
-
How in the heck did we (wearing my Wisconsin hat now) beat Michigan once and nearly beat them again but couldn't beat High Point?
