@mayjay I would have liked to keep Chenal but he got top money which Chiefs could not afford.

The Chiefs are signing former Dolphins CB Kader Kohou.
Kohou missed all of last season with a knee injury, but has 38 career starts, 190 tackles, and 3 INTs.

Will be interesting to see if they try to sign a WR or draft one. Diggs, Hill, Brown, Jennings and Samuel are some unsigned big names. Really don’t want Hill or Brown back personally.

I’ve read some mixed things about him. Sounds like he’s purely a slot guy? Regardless, we need some bodies!

looks like we just acquired Mahomes' back up for next season: Justin Fields from the Jets. He was once the 11th pick in the draft. Semi flop so far?

@rockchalkjayhawk Playing for 4 coaches in 5 years for 3 bad teams, including the miserably dysfunctional Jets, could make any QB look like a flop. The Chiefs need someone experienced enough to be able to lead the offense through the off-season and preseason. With Mahomes contributing from the sideline, Fields can run through the offensive playbook and help the new offensive players work the routes correctly (with Kelce's invaluable leadership), and is good enough to also challenge the rebuilt defensive secondary. If PM isn't ready to play early, JF will start the season with far more 1st string experience than most backups would.

@rockchalkjayhawk Ah, the Doom Squad always knows better than the pros who will coach a player do. Did Fields ever have a coach like Reid or a mentor like Mahomes, or an All-Pro teacher like Alex Smith who gave Mahomes almost a full season of tutoring before he even appeared in a game? No, Fields was thrown to the wolves first season, a desperation tactic that has undermined the career and confidence of many a 1st rd QB. If Reid thinks he can be taught, I don't give a crap about what fanbases of NYJ, Chi or P think about their own talent-evaluation ability. Since those team collectively played in a single conference championship game (L by P in 2016) since Reid took over the Chiefs, while Reid has been to 5 and won 3, I'm going with the future HOF coach who may have a pretty damned good idea what he wants.

I've been reading about the NFL draft lately. Lots of experts are suggesting edge rusher Rueben Bain Jr. could fall to the Chiefs at No. 9.
The debate apparently is over his arm length. See the table below for historical success as a pass rusher with sub-31 inch arm length.

Bain is at 30 7/8, with 33 apparently optimal.

I think the Chiefs need more of a sure thing at No. 9. Who it is, i dunno!

I really like the idea of have Fields in KC, he can get some reps with first teamers while Mahomes is out and another weapon in the run game. Reid and EB should be able to get some gadget plays for him in the book for this season. Maybe even run a QB sneak with him.
