I think I’ll reserve judgment on Self’s tenure until after the tourney.
I can say getting beat down by 20+ points more than a few times lately isn’t helping his cause. I thought we actually matched up well vs Houston. No reason to get smoked like that.
Watching our offense try to get an open look at times can be painful. That has to be on the coaching staff. I realize Houston has a top notch defense, but 47 points this late in the season? Jeez.
We 100% need some bench help. How bad is Dawson if he won’t even play him over Marko and Mari?

Do believe money is tight ATM but also Self is being paid a ton. Not saying to fire him if that's what you mean. Moreso hoping he also thinks it is time and retires. I am actually all for going a bit cheaper at hc and having more for the players.

I agree with people , seeing as long as we ready to run Bill out HELL YA let's run him out , I know this we sure DON'T want another Coach who won two National Championships for us , no indeedy absolute , we sure don't want another active HOF Coach- -I mean dam come on who would want that ? Then and , and , and why would we possibly ever want ANOTHER Coach that Coached us to what 12 , 13, straight Conference Championships in a row Sh - - Why would we ever want to enjoy something like that again ?
Agreed getting whupped over twenty is un called for , I mean whoever gets beat like that in a post season conference tourney ?- -I mean this was only a two seed whupping a three seed that just doesn't happen well-- -well -- -well- - I mean other then Florida getting their ass thumped by a four or five seed but I mean that's ok for Florida because they are Florida they are only the defending National Champion so that doesn't count why would we ever want another Coach like that I mean Florida Coach won a Championship so he gets a pass-but a Coach like that is not we need I mean seeing as Championships are Sooooo easy to win.
Those are reasons why no way in hell we want another Coach like the one we got now because that Coach has proven to be a dam good Coach---- a HOF Coach but dammit he is not perfect, not close so he has GOT TO GO and like now----get a rope

Ok don't get your Dobber down always got other great Coachs- -I KNOW here we go nailed this it this time-- by gosh , by golly let's go pull that Awesome Coach from that School that get's all these first round future NBA players year after year ya let's get him to be our next Coach let's see he has only in his 2nd year at Kentucky the Kentucky fans love him lmao has won yet BUT- -I mean dammit we need him because he has all these NBA players got to be him.
Ya I mean this current Coach can't Coach worth a hill of beans just because all these people say this league he tries to Coach in is considered the toughest league in the Nation all out war almost year in , year out- --he is an absolute bum YMCA Coach get him out of here- --get a rope I mean just because the only other one I think of is some dude I think that has won a title his name is Scott Drew just because he is the only other one other then KU's bum Coach who can't Coach a lick. lot's of talented players NO National titles --I know maybe Jerome can help out program sure National thing if we can pull him in.

I don’t think anyone would argue Bill does not belong in the HOF. He’s had an amazing run, and seems like a genuinely good person. Give him years to develop players and I’d take him over anybody.
But it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that college ball has really changed in the last few years. Good players don’t stay for years anymore. I think the question is more - can we look at data over several years and conclude Bill has adapted to the changes? One or two seasons can be chalked up to a bad year, bad roster, or bad whatever.
But at some point it’s gets pretty hard to ignore the numbers. We’ve all seen professionals- athletes, actors, CEOs, etc., who tried to stay a bit too long past their prime. It’s a hard thing for anyone to come to grips with. And it’s hard for fans to see their heroes age.
I think better questions are when will Bill realize it? Cuz I don’t see him getting fired, maybe ever. And, can we afford anyone better? And in this new world, how do we know who is better?

@FormerlyStlJhawk Agree. Game has changed. Other long-time coaches retired. Bill stayed thinking he could adapt and win another title. Change is difficult. I think Bill has discovered just how difficult it is.

@FormerlyStlJhawk @jojoandme you both express it very well. Exactly. Huge love for the man. Give him a statue or a court. Keep him close to the program. Also think he could go to a smaller school and might be able to build a dangerous team. But his methodology no longer appears to be able to produce the consistency necessary at a top 10 school. And i dont think anyone here wants to not be a top 10 school any more, perennially, as long as that is achievable.

Not sure that is necessarily a prerequisite for finding a new coach. Look at Roy and Bill as prime examples. Just finding the right guy...
Not that i want him gone! But things have changed since 2022. Doesn't seem like a long time, but we're not on the same level. Maybe it's NIL, maybe it's Self, maybe it's conference realignment, maybe it's the players. But, we're not elite like we used to be.

@rockchalkjayhawk All true the things we said, yet time moves on, we have added schools really good schools this is no cup cake central anymore for KU it isn't for anybody but you just have to keep plugging away,
As far as fit-- I guess we haven't found that fit EXCEPT for Bill then with him winning as much as he as-- -you are 1000 %correct a bunch of my buddies agree with me that says that NIL has ruined the College Basketball-- there is no such thing as College Basketball anymore-- it is now like the G league or over sea's play - -it's just a meat market and these players don't give a rats ass about who they play for as long as they get their money, They are there for one year so they don't give a flip. THAT- - sure in the hell miss the good old days of four year players and watch the development of the kid. when it was like the earlier years you could geet to see exactly how good a Coach really was by his work of developing a player you sure can't see that these days--kid doesn't stay long enough unless you hand over some bills.
