YAWWNNN KU-Buffs 10 PM

Watched this morning. Fran was EXTRA AWFUL! Could tell Boog doesn't enjoy working with him...
-
Melvin Council Highlights vs. Colorado (18 Pts, 7 Rebs, 3 Asts)
-
Tre White Highlights vs. Colorado (17 Pts, 15 Rebs, 4 Asts)
-
Darryn Peterson Highlights vs. Colorado (16 Pts, 6 Rebs)
-
What's funny is I turned this on my phone and the sound wasn't working, I thought ESPN had muted the announcers (wishful thinking knowing Fran was calling the game). Turns out I just had my volume all the way down.
It's painful how bad he is at this gig.
Bright side: We have more remaining games on networks outside of ESPN so we're a bit lucky that we may only get him a few more times...
-
@BeddieKU23 Saturday we on fox again so Iām excited to not hear from the peanut gallery all game.
-
@Jayhawk_69 sounds good to me! A lot of players had sore

-
@BeddieKU23 self texted coaches at half, guessing getting the ball to Flo was a point.
-
@BShark I've noticed and I feel strongly that Fran has set this up. Boog always asks Fran a couple of times during games what should they do during different times, course to show off Fran's coaching prowess!
-
@Jayhawk_69 I really like Hanni, I know a lot of fans think he's corny. He does so much for cancer patients in the Lawrence area. I watch Hawk Talk, he is so well organized, so well informed. A lot of prep work. I usually listen to the post game and some pre game.
-
To each his own of course. I agree. I really like Hanni too. Good voice and I think he hits a nice balance between excitement and real basketball analysis

Just watched a replay of the Council steal and a clip of him being interviewed about it. During the steal, his back was to the inbounder. The inbounder, wanting to inbound the ball in a hurry, seemed not to notice Melvin and threw it into the back of his arm. It appears that, upon feeling the ball, Council took advantage to get the steal. I don't know what the exact rules are in this scenario, but I don't think it would have been fair to T council up when he was facing away and when the inbounder gave him no time to clear out of the area. In a post-game interview, Council said (and I paraphrase) that he wasn't even thinking about getting the steal and it just sort of happened.
-
@Jayhawk_69 I vehemently disagree. He was standing out of bounds and made contact with the ball. At the very least the basket should not have counted. It probably should have been a tech too.
I really don't think it matters if it was intentional or not. -
Meh, then it's the referee's responsibility to make the call, the one that was standing point blank there to make. Council and KU benefitted from the error.
There were several mistakes by this crew last night. They missed a clear goal-tend in the first half on Flory that if called could have been reviewed and overturned. We'll take it. We're on the other end of the stick far too often.
The A-Team wasn't in Boulder last night

Couple key things turning to Saturday's game. Bashir is out for K-ST. 67 made 3's on the year at 44% clip. He would have been a prime candidate to have 10 of them on Saturday so that's positive. Their starting big McGriff was also out last night. The two guys that filled in for Bashir/McGrifff combined for 48 minutes and 2 POINTS. No idea of his status for Saturday.
We'll have a major advantage in the front court on Saturday night. No excuses for walking out of that craphole without a victory.
-
Concerning the Council play. Yes, he was out of bounds when he blocked the ball. But when you consider that he did not step out of bounds to make the play, but was already out of bounds from finishing the last play, and then his back was turned to the inlet pass... I don't see reason why he should receive a T, but clearly his score to follow should have been disallowed. They could have made the call and gone to the monitor. We caught a huge break.

Yep they got that one wrong. They also didn't call many obvious fouls on Colorado including one that bloodied Tre if memory serves. KU definitely could have shot a lot more free throws last night. All around terrible last night, but it probably evened out overall.

I'm relieved we got this win, but still not feeling any better for our ability to play well on the road. Colorado was horrible... mostly freshmen. We lacked energy... the real reason why we can't play on the road. Unless we see major improvements in road play I see definite losses at TTech, ISU, and Arizona... along with possible losses at KSU, OSU and ASU.
I don't see us winning the B12 tourney, so I see a minimum of 10 losses heading into March. Most likely, more losses.
