I've felt the disconnect since the Natty. We had a long history of established level of play under Self for which to compare. Things have changed the last couple years.

What I'd like to see from our guys... they play TURNED UP when Darryn is on the floor! Be a part of the "highlight reel" not just trying to watch it from the front row.

Darryn isn't taking possession of the team. It's not just his team... it's everyone's team! Start playing like it!

And for Christ's sake... when the ball leaves the shooters hand, leave then to go get the rebound! Put your body on a player and seal the boards! It's not friggin' rocket science. I learned how to do this in biddy basketball a million light years ago!

I smell a run! (better buy more toilet paper)

I still think this team has a very high ceiling with DP, it’s starts with the defense and rebounding. Some of it is as simple as guys standing and watching him. He has to take some pride in the defense end because he doesn’t help much or at all most the time.

@kjayhawks2.0 But when he does play D, his hands are so quick. The potential for steals are out there.

DP was much better on the defensive side tonight, saw him getting steals, blocks and in position much more often. He isnt gonna need to drop 30 to keep us in the game if he continues to improve on that end. Same stuff I tell my 5th graders you can’t have one guy doing his own thing on defense. Everyone has to be working as a unit.

Yeah chemistry was still high when he is on the court last night for maybe the first time. Assumed it would happen given time as the other players adjust to DP, but good to see it actually play out. Still need to work on the defensive rebounding a bit but otherwise loving this team.

When he missed the dunk and crouched as though he was injured, I was a bit worried. Not sure if it was a knee or something else. But definitely glad to see him get up and be able to play through.

Not sure if his explosiveness has been diminished over the last game or so.

But even if he's not 100%, his presence keeps the other team honest on defense.

                    Rock Chalk!

This was the first game he played in where he didn't have to be the best player. He was a bit cold from the field, but the others stepped up, especially our bench.

Last night was the first time we saw him try to throw the hammer down, the first one especially if that went in would have sent Allen Fieldhouse into a frenzy. His movement and athleticism has improved since the NC St/Mizz games. He appears to be trending forwardly health wise even if he hasn't finished a game yet.

Most importantly as others have mentioned, DP didn't have to be the best player on the court for them to win. This was absolutely a team win last night.

@BeddieKU23 The way he missed on that play, and we weren't given a replay, I almost wondered if it was a pass because the net result was a pass to the corner.

His 3ball hasn’t been falling lately but him trying to dunk on people is a welcome sight.

Ha, his birthday reminds me that I was only 17 when I started at KU.

It used to be that you had to sit out your freshman year in order to "adjust" to college.

@JoJoAndMe important to let grown men just be goofy kids now and then, whether they be a day shy of 19 or whatever age. Hell, we are all congregating here around a game! We are all kids at heart.

I really enjoyed watching the vid of the guys celebrating as they ran into the locker room.

I have to say I had complete confidence that Darryn was going to score everytime he had the ball during his 23 min of playing time against the Bears. 26 pts on 11/13 shooting; and 2/4 from 3. Flory came to play, but KU still needs a consistent 3rd and 4th scorer.

ESPN doesn't include DP in its ranking of the top 25 freshmen. He's at the end of the list in his own category: "Elite when they play."

I would hope this would light a fire.

@stoptheflop Tre and Melvin are the 3rd scorer by committee. I love the way Tre is a foul-seeking missile at the end of the shot clock. And Melvin is a bit like a lighthouse -- blinding bright, but sometimes goes dark... Together they are great.
