Ha, his birthday reminds me that I was only 17 when I started at KU.

It used to be that you had to sit out your freshman year in order to "adjust" to college.

@JoJoAndMe important to let grown men just be goofy kids now and then, whether they be a day shy of 19 or whatever age. Hell, we are all congregating here around a game! We are all kids at heart.

I really enjoyed watching the vid of the guys celebrating as they ran into the locker room.

I have to say I had complete confidence that Darryn was going to score everytime he had the ball during his 23 min of playing time against the Bears. 26 pts on 11/13 shooting; and 2/4 from 3. Flory came to play, but KU still needs a consistent 3rd and 4th scorer.

ESPN doesn't include DP in its ranking of the top 25 freshmen. He's at the end of the list in his own category: "Elite when they play."

I would hope this would light a fire.

@stoptheflop Tre and Melvin are the 3rd scorer by committee. I love the way Tre is a foul-seeking missile at the end of the shot clock. And Melvin is a bit like a lighthouse -- blinding bright, but sometimes goes dark... Together they are great.

Now that we have seen an extended version of DP it’s pretty obvious that he was definitely slowed to start the season. He’s moving so much better defensively and without the ball on offense. I’m hoping to make it to a game this season when he plays. I tell people you can see so much more of what is going in person compared to TV angles. I thought that watching Wiggins and Embiid in AFH. Remember Wiggins in the game I went to missing a block, coming back down and actually getting the block before the opposing player even moved.

not to bring up bad memories, but what was the scoop with DP late in the last game? Haven't heard, but did he beg to come out again?

@rockchalkjayhawk he asked to come out, not begged. I think Self said they may need him to go back in.

I'm thrilled with the way Self made a few adjustments to take him off point all the time. The team is starting to gel around him when he's out there and kicking it up a notch when he's not. Whatever he can do from here on out, I'm all for it.

I'll be shocked if he's not the #1 pick. Once in a decade talent. We might not see it here unfortunately (like with Embiid) but you can just tell. The real deal.

@DanR hopefully, unlike Embiid, he stays healthy and plays hard in March. I always wonder what might have been if Embiid played for us that tourney.

Since Darryn has come back KU has been the #7 offense in the country. And all this while not 100% yet either.

Wow, all the mindreaders and gossip-mongers seem to now think he actually DOES want to play. Here I thought all the angry accusations of him scamming KU to collect NIL while abandoning his team had to be correct! I wish a lot of people would have to write 100 times on a blackboard "I will not write diatribes based on rumor or without having any evidence accuse someone of being a shitty person."

@mayjay what about all the holier than thou people chomping at the bit to chastise others for being lesser fans because they were demonstrative about their concerns? Thats like the dessert and this meal is complete. 😁 unless you count the guy who acts above it all pointing out that we are all to a person very ridiculous and take ourselves too seriously. Thats the nightcap.

@approxinfinity I chastised everybody all along. Same thing happened when certain fans dumped on Dave McCormack and someone even said we would not be able to win anything until, I believe the words used were, "that piece of shit" leaves Lawrence.

I will gladly assume the role of scold when the Board degenerates into this type of feeding frenzy. Someone has to...and not many were.

Edit: Accusing someone of fraud and demonstrating concerns are different concepts entirely.

The way I read it is until he plays in 3/4 of our games he will not show on any stats or lists. I think in the last game of the regular season he will meet the criteria.

Just read where DP donated $5 million to homeless shelters in his home town of Canton Ohio. That’s pretty cool
