Other Games 2025-2026

@JoJoAndMe I’m sure they were pretty wild but there is pictures all over X with half the team over there flipping them the bird. They won the only thing that matters in the game show a little class imo.

@ROCKCHALK2025 yes the but their 31-0 is laughable and they had to know it looking at their schedule. They played 2 or 3 teams in the regular season that aren’t even D1. Couple that with zero P4 opponents and they knew what they was doing.
It is repeated in many stories that Miami tried to schedule P5 schools, but everyone turned them down. Many low tier schools say that, however, but often they want reciprocal games and most P5 schools won't commit to that. I have asked on The Athletic boards if Miami had offered just to play P5 away games, but no one seemed to know.
I'd let them in, even with a conf tourney loss, before allowing P5 teams in who are below midpoint in their conferences, or have losing conference records. Maybe teams with predictably easy schedules shouldn't be rewarded for great W/L records, but P5 teams likewise shouldn't be rewarded just for having joined a conference where they aren't competetive.
Edit: I say P5 but TBH I lost track long ago.

@mayjay I think they should be in at this point but I see them getting destroyed by the first real team. I realize upsets happen every year but usually the mid major that does upset played a good schedule most the time with with a few P4 road games.

BYU won! Who do we play and when?
-
3 seed. Play Thursday night at 830 CT. TCU is likely opponent

Posting the bracket now that it is finalized

This team has blown easy games all year but that draw is nice to say the least
-
I’d really like to win this conference tournament to help improve our seeding in the big tournament. Usually I really don’t care about it. My usual take is to go home first game or win the whole dang thing.
-
It's also a barometer of where the team could go in the big one. Both titles in the Self Era came after winning the Big 12 tourney.
For this team specifically, they need to prove they can play their best away from home. It's looked really bad recently. KC isn't even a real road game but its not Allen so it's at least a chance to figure things out this week. Peterson could be the x factor with how his health looked yesterday. Timing is impeccable
-
BYU fans (to be fair, some only) rushed the court after they knocked off TTech. Who let this embarrassing program into our league?
-
It was an interesting game given both teams had lost valuable members of the team and have had to adjust. BYU is still a dangerous team. Tech too.
I wouldn't expect either of them to make the FF, but Elite Eight isn't out of the question depending on their draws.
Big10 also has numerous good teams at the top of their league. I wouldn't be surprised if the NCAA Elite Eight is mostly the B1G vs B12 invitational with Florida and Duke.
-
Our only really tough game would be Houston.
-
TCU, if they win their first game will be a really tough one. Took us to OT in Allen and are 8-2 since Feb 1st. They only played Iowa St and Tech during that stretch, but they are playing good ball. Dixon has done a great job somehow with that roster.

@BeddieKU23 They are scrappy. I wouldn't hate if we grabbed Punch out of the portal should he enter.
-
Punch is certainly on the radar if we lose Tiller I would think.

Without knowing the money both are asking for I would rather have Punch.
-
I don’t know what we are talking about but as far as names go, I’m drinking the Koolaid on Punch.
-
There are tradeoffs to both. I don't see the fit with Punch if Flory is here as you're getting more or less the same player in ways. The defense would be stellar and currently Punch is the better offensive player as far as output but he's option 1 at TCU. I think Punch would have to play the 5 here to be effective within the offense.
Tiller's ceiling is higher and his developing inside/out game I think is worth betting on for another season. Would be hard to see a young talent go somewhere else and make the league. I don't think KU can afford to let that happen.
-
David Punch, leading scorer for TCU.
-
What's your thoughts on Dawes from Utah as another potential within the conference? I think he's the perfect comp to what we want Tiller to become as far as Scoring/Rebounding. I think he's a really good fit potentially. While we are at it, Brown would be a terrific replacement for Peterson/Council. He's gonna average 20+ a game next season somewhere.
If Flory isn't here next season which is really hard to imagine or even say, Moustapha Thiam from within the conference would be my #1 Flory replacement. He's already been at 2 Big-12 teams so why not a 3rd LOL.
Massamba Diop obviously has already been posted as a possibility here, but we saw last week he's more Tiller than Flory from play style currently. Still, that's a really talented kid that could be effective here. Good to also note that both coaches could be fired soon at those schools so both are likely on the move anyway.
