Thank God I've only wasted 25 minutes of my day watching this dumpster fire team. I love seeing them penalize themselves into snatching defeat from the jaws of victory week after week.

Well the annual get our hopes up in the 1st half against KState Bowl is history. Our record in this bowl game is not too good of late.

@nuleafjhawk this is textbook poor coaching, luckily I’m at my sons game. Oddly enough they can execute a basic punt and have idiotic penalties.

I don’t know how you fix it. Not short term at least.
Basketball sucks up the NIL budget. Athletics can’t afford to move on. Even if they did, I’m not sure there’s a coach out there that could win here with the NIL resources that would be left if we had to buy LL out.
But they also have to get better and start filling the stadium.

LL here through the ‘28 season for sure. Under contract through ‘29.
I think you just ride it out and save the money. But you need to start lining up NIL for the 2030 season and give the new coach a fighting chance to do something here

@Kcmatt7 Yep Kansas athletics is the worst it’s been in my almost 40 years on earth. It should be time to completely clean house in the athletic department here within the next year. New BB coach, FB coach and new AD.

Self inflicted mistakes. Whatever NIL budget KU has for football in 2027, focus it on the OLine.

I don’t know how you can really criticize Goff at this point. Really don’t think anyone would have done a better job.
First bowl game in a long time. Stadium. Basketball Natty (not that I’d give him credit for that but it happened during his tenure).
Baseball, Volleyball, Soccer, WBB and Track have all been good.
Realistically basketball has underachieved, but who is firing Self? What AD has this basketball program in better shape?
Football is the biggest critique and it isn’t like we are worse off from when he inherited the mess.

@wissox83 he likely retires after this season regardless but he’s had his worst seasons ever here the last 3 years. We haven’t even competed for the conference.

My sources say we are 3rd in Big 12 in NIL spending, but 11th in football. SO . . . we are over-spending in basketball and not getting the results.
Note: KSucks football NIL is $3 million more than KU's.
Also . . . IMO LL made a huge mistake in retaining first-year DC. Please notice: We virtually NEVER blitz . . . so we seldom put pressure on the opposing QB.

@Kcmatt7 fair points but you have to be good in FB and BB to be a successful AD at this level. Instead of spending a $300 million donation on competitive players it was blown on facilities for one sport.

Agree to disagree. A lot more nuance than that to it. Facilities are an important part of remaining competitive.

@Kcmatt7 I honestly don’t think facilities are as big anymore. Guys only want the big checks they don’t care about the venue near as much as 10 years ago IMO. Kids don’t care about a fancy scoreboard or locker room anymore they just want the biggest check they can get. Edwards is the prime example of that. He will go wherever the biggest check is as will 90% of collegiate athletes in 2026.

And the old one was literally falling apart. It’s not like all that was AD money either. We had opportunities with ARPA and other funds to make it pencil. Not like any of it could’ve gone to NIL anyway.

I really want to like LL and think he is a decent coach but this broken record playing the last 3 years is unacceptable. We are a D1 power conference football team that can’t even successfully execute a punt 50% of the time.

@kjayhawks2.0 Thanks, like I knew what you were going to say but wanted to hear it for sure! I do think he's lost some of his fire and may just be like other guys my age who say screw it, this system we're in is just dumb. I can't keep guys at one of the 2 or 3 best programs in the land and have to go after guys who've played in 3 different states in 3 years and hope they come here and are somehow better than they were at St johns and Wisconsin and Narnia St and at Puff the Magic Dragon U of Honalee.
