Ok so lets see if new recruiting thread

  • đŸ’©

  • Blame Nike. Honestly since he was never coming to KU, I’m glad he cut KU now. Let’s go get BOTH Zions!!! ❗

  • Well I realize something or so it seems with Robinson, I believe Robinson either reached out to Coach Self to see about visit Or Coach Self touched base with him to see if eh would be interested in visit, Bottom line is, it sure looks like interest in KU was totally Robinson - -and not Robinson’s parents - -seems like they are totally against KU being his destination. maybe I’m wrong just seems like he is/was on an island by himself as far as KU. - -IF that is truly the case - -that’s really sad. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • So Matt Scott says the reports of the UNO visit were false. Eric Bossi just posted that the visit just wrapped up, i.e. that it happened with a decision expected soon. This one is hard to keep up with.

  • @RockkChalkk Gary bedore said he was visiting there mon, I believe. I give up

  • What the hell - -Oh well let’s see, let me look at my cards, my fortune cookie - Oh yes very clear Mitchell Robinson will decide about where he plays sometime. - -These guys I’m tellin ya where are they getting their information from? - -Dam, aren’t they surpose to have SOME KIND of in with these guys, or source? - -Sure doesn’t seem to be the case. - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • Someone got lied to, WHAT FUN.

  • It down to ku and New Orleans for Mitchell Robinson

  • Well at least goes to show, once again Matt Scott doesn’t have a clue to what he is talking about.

Read from the New Orleans- Times-Picayune this morning, that Robinson yes indeed did visit yesterday, and is reported to chose between KU & New Orleans, and the decision will be soon, although no date given.

Said he had visited KU - -LSU - -& New Orleans But sources had confirmed LSU was no longer recruiting him. This has mama written all over it, or mama and daddy wanting Mitchell to stay close to home. - I think the KU visit was purely Mitch’s idea - -desire, and more likely then not will in the end run cave to the pressure of mom and dad, even though he stated he was making his own decisions now. I also just think possibly like has been mentioned, if he doesn’t get the waiver, which is unlikely then chances are mom and dad have told him he can be right there at home, work and train 10 miles from home with New Orleans U & then declare the following year for the NBA and not have to leave home.

The only thing or question I would have on this is - -quite possibly mama wants him to stay close so they can watch him play, that’s great but if he doesn’t get the waiver what difference does it make if he is close to home anyways? - -the following year he is off to the NBA. - - Well whatever happens the guy is a stud , his Senior yr 20.9 ppg - -13.6 rpg - - & 8.1 blks pg - -that’s a line to talk about - -I don’t car who you are - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • I get the feeling from some of his retweets that he doesn’t want to wait an extra year to get his big payday. I’ve never been in that position so its hard to say how I would react if I was in his shoes, it has to be tough. I will say though, I was a college athlete (many years ago) and my college years were definitely some of the best years of my life. Staying an extra year in college would be far from a terrible option in my opinion.

Training for one year while being a practice guy at UNO will probably be the quickest and best way to get that big payday. However, putting in his time, developing his game, playing against top level competition at KU every day will delay the first big payday at least a year but can give him a better chance at sticking in the NBA and getting that 2nd and 3rd big payday. If he goes early I hope he makes it, its always sad to see guys go early and end up cut in a year or two.

  • @RockkChalkk In your day, if someone gave you a chance, even if not guaranteed, to earn millions of dollars to leave without doing college sports would you have turned it down?

This is why I think kids should be able to go through the draft and come back to school if they don’t like their spot. Maybe address the Robinsons of the world by saying this is only a possibility for someone who has (1) completed a year of participation in (2) good academic standing.

  • College is only really needed in a handful of careers. Joining the NBA isn’t one of those professions. That being said I’d sure like the kids that choose to go to college to make a multi-year commitment.

  • I still like the baseball rule. You can go to the MLB directly from HS but if you choose to got to college you have to wait 3 years which gives the student athlete a chance to get most of his school work done and if necessary, come back to complete the school work and get a degree.

  • Locke has set his OVs, KU is not one of them.

Looks like all-in on Grimes and Dotson.

  • @BShark And is there something wrong with all in on those two? - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • Nope. Better land them though, when you take this approach.

  • Hey, how about that , ya I know it’s 247 BUT - - -I just seen where we picked up 2 more predicts for Zion Williamson to commit here, and those two actually put out in Front for Zion 38% to Kentucky’s 31%, which I guess in a way kind of makes sense now with every thing going on

With Devon being such a heavy lean towards KU and people trying to make that Connection with Devon & Zion well Zion mentioning about how good Devon is and the possibility of playing with him - -and then the whole deal with Adias , being Williamson shoe possibly them trying to get Williamson towards KU with KU as been said their biggest Blue Blood School for them, and Now With Barret re-classifying and showing a lean towards Kentucky, add those together and this is where we are at possibly.

Could you imagine a recruiting class of Dotson , Grimes , Williamson , to go along with IF Robinson did land here this yr, sit then be eligible the next year - -so you would have Grimes , Dotson , Williamson , Robinson , and the Lawsons - - all I would be able to say is - -JUMPIN GEE HOOSIE TOADS. I know a lot has to play out yet for this to happen but if it indeed turns out this way - -look out, - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer54 Love your invention of new words & phrases! “Jumpin gee hoosie toads” is dead on!

  • Don’t get too worked up on Zeon! I have looked into him a little bit and if I had a CB pick it would be UK. I will not elaborate on how I came to that assumption but that would be my pick.

  • @jayballer54 Yep jb54, I would take that roster in a heartbeat. Especially when you add Garrett, Mitch, hopefully Vick, and 2 or 3 three stars with good upside potential. That would be a loaded team. We can always hope and dream.

  • @Statmachine If Kentucky ends up landing RJ Barrett, Williamson will not end up at Kentucky. - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • Read an article from Matt Tait off LJW, Matt made the statement that like we have known coming down to KU and New Orleans ( which Kentucky fans at having an absolute field day with this but Matt made the statement that he heard from a couple of places that it was looking more like a waiver might be gotten.

A poster ask him reliable sources? - To which he responded None that he could report and no one knows for sure one way or another but they were valid sources that pay close attention to these types of situations. - -Maybe he does get his wavier of eligibility for this season - - , IF he were to get his clearance for this year Matt post 3 different Scenario’s with starting line ups - -this one seem to be the most logical/popular: - - Graham , Newman , Vick - -with SVI & Garret to relieve & then in the Front Court – Robinson & Azubuike - with Preston & Lightfoot to Back up. - -That would be a pretty impressive line up 2 seven footers - -with those 3 in Backcourt - -would be sweet. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer54 My question is with both of them in the game, do we run the high/low? Is Robinson high post dude? We know Doke ain’t.

Amazing how one very good player changes the complete complexion of this team.

Man, we’re light in the post.

  • @HighEliteMajor He has some threes in his highlights but we know how deceptive highlights can be. He certainly has some skills and I don’t think it would be spacing suicide to have Doke and Robinson on the floor at the same time. Hopefully this is something we actually get to discuss, come on down Mr. Robinson.

  • 0_1503085716503_bbb.jpg

You know what we say around here at buckets? If the shoe fits? lol

  • @HighEliteMajor ya good question but I think you got it right. - -Doke would I believe for sure be the low post, as I think Robinson MIGHT have a little more outside game, also a little more fluid - -mobile, it for sure would cause some matchup head aches for some opponents.

He also list still the 4 guard with either Doke OR Robinson - -4 guards surrounding them. - Question there is which Big starting - -Doke? - -or Robinson - another dilemma lol - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @BShark I just wish Robinson would decide. - I seen some chitter-chatter about him considering about going back to WKU. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @BShark It does appear as though Robinson has a good outside shot and he is also mufh quicker and more nimble than Dok. It would really depend on who the opponent is and if Robinson moves laterally well defensively. For a tall team like Kentucky or Arizona this would work well.

  • @HawkChamp One thing for sure, could you imagine if it ends up Robinson does come and sticks - - Coach would have so many different line ups he could run out - -the 4 guard and what a 4 they are all can shoot the hell out of the ball - -OR you could go hi-low with Robinson & Doke an I’m sure a lot of other combo’s mix and match - -would be very interesting trying to watch teams match up with us. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer54 I saw that too. Kind of seems like he has burned the bridge but who knows. I think Self should take a gamble here and not require Robinson to stay for a second year, if hd hasnt already. We have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

  • @HawkChamp Well I just now read another article from Mat Tait from the L J W. - -It is becoming kind of clear, this is a kid that likes attention, a kid that has no idea what he wants , and a very confused kid. - Just like I mentioned Matt headline was is there a new contender for Robinson and yes it was WKU.

Even though it was some guy off twitter goes by @ Barstool Western, it is a twitter account that has 6,000 followers a person who tracks KKU sports closely, and says sources confirmed that Robinson is SERIOUSLY considering return to WKU.

Put that on top of the fact that Robinson is now Re-tweeting a lot of WKU tweets, they taking a poll if they would take him back if he wanted to return, he has re- tweeted a lot on WKU

Even though with me being as biased - -pro Jayhawk, and would love the guy - -well maybe not as much now - -kind of seems like a head case at least to some extent , the most logic would seem ya, probably would be best to go back to WKU. he would play immediately, not have to worry about any waver -not have to worry about sitting out, get to play this year, play for the year then declare , I just think he is finding out chances are he is going to have to sit, and won’t be cleared, so his best shot is to go back. - I think Bill probably said - -look if we invest our time, the School’s money to get you or try and get you cleared - -you gonna have to give me a 2 year commitment and that’s NOT what he wanted to hear, so he is going to other options, and about the only other option is to go back. - My thinking now is - -just go back to WKU - - & KU let’s move on Coach precede like you had planned be for this debacle . - -Tired of playing the what if game with this kid. - We was fine before he came up - -we’ll be fine after - - -Time to lift the Anchor and set sail. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • Well one thing I found out for sure, this will all be over by the 28th of August. Will he drag it out that long? - -who knows But has to be done by the 28th.

August 28th: LAST day to register for a full time course load( 12 or more hours for undergraduates, and 9 or more for graduates )

August 28th: Full Semester classes:-Last day to add a class , last day to drop a class without a grade. Last day to change a class from audit to credit , Last day to receive 100% refund for a class.

Looks like if anything is going to get done , it has to be by the 28th , hope fully it will be over before that so we can move on. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @BShark he has come and gone he enjoyed his visit tho

It’s pretty much a hard deadline, lol.

Kid to keep an eye on. His offer sheet is kinda funny right now but growing. Has potential and a couple good weekends this summer. Long/tall and still growing. I think he’d be a good 4 year player. His mom and older brother both graduated from KU.

  • He retweeted one thing about his KSU offer, about 8 for OU offer visit and 50 million about KU. 😂

  • @BShark Yep looks like that is pretty much set in stone . - - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Ehhh, some players not so much, maybe just retweet the offer and a couple things. This kid is a legacy with multiple family members that have graduated from KU, and he is talented. Not sure he could commit today but you can bet the staff is keeping tabs on him this season.

  • @BShark Maybe ok he has family member that went to Ku, but we have had others that had family members that went to KU also, doesn’t mean as much anymore I don’t think - -Shoe contracts mean a lot more we have seen that before - things have got twisted somewhere along the ways, to many outside influences. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Lol. His situation is much closer to Marcus Garrett than an elite recruit with multiple handlers.

  • Looks like an honest recruitment here tbh.

  • After DeAndre Ayton picked Arizona over KU no prospect is a lock until he sign the LOI and even then things can happen and the prospect might never play. He only sure thing is that there is no sure thing.

  • So our late night list stands at 9 right now, we don’t want to get too many, can’t give that one on one attention as much but they are: Jalen Carey - - -Quentin Grimes - - Zion Griffin- - Malik Hall- - Zach Harvey- - Jeremiah Robinson- - Samuell Williamson- - Ty Berry- - & N’faly Dante.

I know Harvey has been to multiple late nights plus games, & Jeremiah Robinson I believe also has been to multiple late nights - -but 209 recruits which we have to keep the hammer down on cause I think they are ours for the taking, all we have to do stay in contact both nice players
 - -I think things could be sitting up pretty nice for us in the next couple of years, think our chances with Chandler Lawson obviously are pretty strong we shall see - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer54

Carey might not make it. The rest though, are all high targets for the most part. Dante is gonna be unreal. Hope he ends up at KU.

JRE looks like a top priority, and rumoured to be a silent commit. Dunno as much about Harvey.

  • I’ve come to a conclusion and that is, the reason Robinson hasn’t made any announcement about where he is committing is BECAUSE he isn’t committing anywhere. I think the longer this goes without some kind of announcement means just more likely he just going to sit and Train and then Declare for the NBA, probably really doesn’t want to mess with going to class, so just not enroll anywhere and just workout, - -looking like to me that’s what’s going to happen, time runnin out. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • He might be best served to just go back to WKU. shrug

  • @BShark ya, actually that would be the obvious choice, the thing is, the kid should of thought about this kind of scenario before leaving in the 1st place. - -left pretty hastily , lack of better judgement on how he left- - I mean come on , you text your Coach and tell them? - -That’s not really the classiest way to do things. This won’t happen BUT with that being said , it would suck if WKU refused to let him come back, the Coach could say uh - -NOPE you made your choice.

How’s that going to settle with the other players at WKU? more then likely no biggie BUT you just never know for sure, you always might have that other player with the train of thought like WTH? but anyways that would be the best scenario for him. - -Not have to worry about any waiver, be eligible to play this year and then next year declare for the NBA. - -Again he is going to do some suckin up to WKU to be allowed back, some kind of stipulations or discipline I would think if he wanted back. - -Again texting to say your pullin out? lack of class. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
