@rockchalkjayhawk Im sorry about your mom. She raised a fine young man and I’m glad you are with us. We still have a World Cup ahead. Lets get this American fiasco started already haha. Speaking of which I havent looked at what Roger Bennett is doing this World Cup.
Thx @approxinfinity
And wow i haven't watched Men in Blazers in like forever and a day. I'll have to get back in the habit. Go USA! -

Yea, like with many others, it’s been a rough year with loss and family tears.
Just lost my poor mom.

Not fully paying attention to the world outside my immediate focus, but still attempting to track roster construction.
Hoping by the time my misery clears, we’ll have a full team of players to discuss.
Cheers to all.
It’s tough when your folks get older or have health issues. Your mom is at peace now and I that’s a good place to be.

I’m just rolling on in the sad state of affairs known as the world in 2026. Keeping busy with summer sports and activities. Trying my best to raise my kids like it’s the 80s and 90s.

Maybe we should start a 2020s parenting hacks for children of the 90s thread @kjayhawks2.0

I need 2020s parenting hacks for children of the 60s/70s. Ugh.

Well we had a fun week here. Bad storms for several days in a row. The wind was really bad on the last one and snapped a power line. No power for 15 hours. Then after that, one of the pipes in the utility room starts SPRAYING badly out of a leak. No running water for a day.

My mom fell again and fractured humerus x2, dislocated shoulder, fractured spine, broke 2 ribs and pelvis. Trying to coordinate hospice care for her to return home but this is near the end. Its ok. 84 mostly good years. Shes lost a lot of weight and her mind has left the station. My advice, hug your loved ones while youre healthy and enumerate the little ways in which you love them to them. It gets hard to do this later on.

I'm so sorry for what you're all going through . Hang in there friend.

My brother is a physical therapist at this hospital. He has helped me take a practical view of mortality. Life is about quality not quantity for me. Every moment has its own potential for greatness.
