@TYOHawk I’m led to believe role is a potential holdup

Could be but I saw the kid’s parent with KT, Vaughn and Tyran today.

Rumors out there that Bardwell might be reclassifying to join this year's team.

If Bardwell makes it to campus this year, some interesting (tough) lineup choices are pending.
Somebody’s gonna have to play center.
Others like Parker and Kohl are either gonna pissed, or just have more experience than Bardwell.

Is Bardwell going to make a tangible improvement to a Bill Self 7 1/2 man conference rotation?

Give him the 2 year deal. Sophomore year he could be a monster.

Bardwell joining would be a nice jolt of talent to this team. I know its beneficial that he does reclass for his earnings potential with the eligibility changes. I also wonder if this move is that the staff isn't sold on what they got at the 2 guard/wing spot. Definitely can help us this yr

@TYOHawk I'd be shocked if it doesn't happen

@approxinfinity I don't think so. From his perspective it makes sense though. With the new rules coming into effect he would lose his 5th year for college if he takes this year in high school. Another talented body at the position doesn't hurt though. The problem is moreso that he has...tendencies that lead to Bill Self not playing a kid...

I fear that he will transfer after year one in the current climate but would love to be wrong because the talent is absolutely there.

Exactly why I’d push for the two year deal like Louisville did with that center.

Unfortunately that's what i think on Bardwell as well. It's just beneficial he joins this yr and whatever we get from him is gravy. I don't expect anyone here more then a year anymore which is sad but after the last couple years the reality we are dealt

I haven't seen Bardwell's prep game to speak with any insight, but his NBA scouting reports believe he can be a 3 and D guy at some point. But that may take a few years or so.

Supposed to have good size and athleticism (6-7, 190+). But needs to get stronger. Can guard multiple positions with quick feet and movement. good in pick and roll eventually with good cutting ability. Smart. Good rebounder. Apparently not skilled with the ball yet.

It's a good thought but I don't think any of these contracts are remotely enforceable. If it ends up going south and he wants to leave, then he will leave I feel. I would like to see some more retention and I think it can be possible to an extent. Other programs are doing it. I think part of the issue for KU is that it's clear Self is nearing the end/openly considered retiring etc...

@tyohawk I will say I agree with what you said elsewhere. I am not really a Kohl believer at all so more bodies for this spot is good and I could see him being ahead of Kohl.

It doesn’t mean he’s in the circle of trust but I vividly remember Bossi saying he’s more talented than Kohl.
