If (and that's a BIG IF) we get through the first weekend of the tournament, there's a good chance we'll play a #1 seed in the sweet 16 that we've already seen... Duke? Arizona? Michigan? Houston?
-
I want to give a shout to Fox Sports Nick and I forgot the other guys name. But it was nice to see the crew get called out several times for BS. Fran wouldāve said Bill deserved the double T and Kansas got all the calls the entire game.

I guess ironic how some of us were just talking the other day about how bad the officiating has been across the board this season. Doug Sirmons - hold my beer
Sirmons is the common denominator for shitty officiating in KU games. Pretty much any KU game this season where officiating was an issue, Sirmons more than likely was a ref for that game. Self needs to throw Sirmons under the bus in the post game presser tonight because he is the worst ref I have ever seen.

With this being our 9th loss and 4 out of the last 6 being Ls, who here thinks this team is lost and done? Bill Self in his first 20 years at Kansas had zero teams lose 11 or more games. This year barring the biggest miracle in sports history it will be 3 consecutive years of 11 or more games. Kansas has made it out of the first weekend but 1 time in the last 7 years. Itās time to ask difficult questions. The first one is should Bill Self be coaching Kansas going forward?
I can honestly say I hope he not is back next season. I donāt think he had the right mindset to coach in this era of college sports. Yes Iām well aware we won a title technically in the NIL era but it was with guys that were upper class men he developed here, not a team that returns 2 guys that have seen the floor every season.

Old Goats got one more in āem.
Also just look at Indiana, UK and UCLA. Only way you move on is if you have a top guy lined up like Otz. And even then no guarantees.

That was a fuc*ing embarrassment on every level. Players, refs, coaches. You name it.
Beat down by 20 in the first half? Against ASU? What the hell kind of team is this?
-
@webjay He got tossed going scorched earth on the refs.
-
@rockchalkjayhawk haha. I mean youāre not wrong, but the effort was there second half even though the preparedness was not. Time to own it and move on. Not counting us out yet, but the team needs to respond positively. What the hell kind of team is this? Is definitely the question the boys need to answer now.
-
@bskeet We beat 2 of those 4 #1 seeds.
-
We are seeing what kind of team this is, everything that was built has unraveled and happened quickly. If the only time they can play well is at home their fate will find a swift exit next week and the following one.
Officiating hit a new low last night but having 1 coach ejected and another T'd up before halftime is unacceptable and controllable behavior.
There seems to be stuff going on behind the scenes that we are not seeing that are playing out on the floor. Not connected, guys are playing me ball and you're not seeing the energy on either side of the ball. This is truly shocking to see after so much growth and development from this bunch.
-
we actually rebounded the ball super well. Im honestly still speechless at how destructive elmarko was
-
KSU will be coming in on a high after swatting West Virginia. It's perplexing and I'm not just talking about officiating. I am intrigued about what Bill, Jacque, Tre, Melvin, Flory, Darryn, Bryson Elmarko, Jamari, Kohl and Doctor Allen are thinking this morning. I hope they are all okay and with quiet minds.

Thatās the biggest issue for me is that before the refs could make them game all about them. We came out of the gate with zero energy whatsoever.
-
@Tallturd1 I know what Iām thinking this morning and it isnāt good. But itās the same feeling I had around this time of year the last two seasons. We are headed down the same path as Indiana basketball and Nebraska football.

They lack energy is really the nail on the head. Really need Council to set the tone. Pick up right at half court. Push the ball on rebounds and stress the defense.
The other thing is easy and that is DP needs to quit trying to draw fouls and start playing to and through contact. Refs let āem play late in the year. Always goes like that. He needs to adjust

Not so fun with the box score!
Seems like a general repeat of the last KU loss:
FTs
KU -- 11-16
ASU -- 24-30
All the other main stats are similar. ugh.
-
I don't like to complain about refs... then I'm a typical fan making a typical rant. These last two games have been horrible to watch. I couldn't identify it was KU. We did not receive a favorable whistle. For sure. But look at the current top teams in America. Do you think they always get a favorable whistle on the road? We just aren't playing to our potential... at all! I know people want to blame DP. He's a kid and he's now going deep in what is called the "freshman slump." I think most of his slump is because of all the crazy attention he has received lately. It must be hard for him to focus. Look at his stat sheet. He did a helluva lot, except his shooting went south. I'm not sure this team can get it together in time this year. Now would be the time to have another team meeting with just the players. It worked last time and I said I thought we would have another meeting this season.
This has been a fun year... hope we aren't sizzling out. Sure looks like there is some discontent on this team suddenly. Suck it up, boys!
-
DP does not even look 80% out there. We are not seeing much benefit to him on the court anymore on either end. The situation is what it is. Given how tired this bunch looks or whatever is ailing them the benefit at this point is simply that he plays so Mari and Elmarko do not have to play even bigger minutes. We haven't seen whatever version of Peterson we were supposedly supposed to have in weeks now.
Poor Council has brought the juice in most games and it shouldn't be on all him. Kids a warrior and has kept this thing afloat when it might have fallen apart sooner.
-
Two minor complaints about player tendencies -- things i wish they'd stop doing. A return to simpler things would mean more success, i'm guessing.
-- Tiller: ok, we've seen enough of that spin move in the lane where you lose the ball behind you a lot, which leads to a breakaway and possibly a foul. no mas.
-- Tre: Be stronger at the rim. Stop these wimpy up and unders that don't seem to succeed much. Be strong in the lane. Get a foul called.
